An AI draft may respond to ordinary news with ‘Absolutely incredible! I’m beyond thrilled!’ If that is not how you speak, the message can feel less personal even when the intention is kind.
Start with what you actually appreciate. ‘The final illustration looks great. The expression is exactly what we discussed’ communicates enthusiasm through attention. The reader learns what landed well.
Choose an intensity that matches the event and your relationship. A major personal achievement may deserve a more emotional response than a routine scheduling update. You do not need to make both sound equally dramatic.
Punctuation can support the tone, but it should not do all the work. If you remove the exclamation marks, does the sentence still express interest? If not, add a concrete reason.
You can also leave space for the other person’s experience. ‘How are you feeling about it?’ is often more inviting than writing a celebration script they may not share.
When reviewing a generated reply, replace any expression you would feel awkward saying aloud. Keep the words you can stand behind. Enthusiasm becomes more believable when it reflects your actual attention, not when it reaches the maximum possible emotional volume.
